 :wtf: :wtf:

One of our service calls today was on Tall Oaks Drive, off of Beemon Lane in Florence Kentucky. Beemon Lane is off of Cayton Road that branches off Hopeful Church road, which is a connector to US42 and SR18.

Customer called us for a leaking Delta Tub/Shower Faucet that was leaking and that

More than one person "tried" to attempt to take it apart and fix it

I was instantly concerned as the age of the home and the design of the delta valve indicates the 3 copper tube style that assembles the valve body to the water piping system.

As always, we was able to remove the bonnet nut with some minimal effort and a product called Free-All which is one of the best products I've used to free up calcium fused parts. Read more...

Once the bonnet nut was removed, it was revealed instantly how badly the valve was turned in the attempt to remove the nut.

The two angled keyways in the valve body were now at the 2 o'clock and the 7 o'clock position which meant the copper tubes were all but nearly collapsed on the back side.

Even though we didn't do much to disturb the valve's current position, we were very worried that just our small amount of work would cause a leak in the wall behind the shower enclosure.

This possibility is very real, and even though I made sure the information was fully spelled out on the invoice, anyone or anybody can be dishonest and blame the last person that touched that fixture. And don't expect the insurance company that you pay premiums to....to come to your defense.

I've worked on quite a few valves that are twisted up like this, always make sure the invoice shows the revelation of the problem and inform the customer of the seriousness of how likely that valve needs to be replaced at that point.

This was a referral from the next door neighbor that lived next door. Greatly appreciated. It didn't help we lost this customer's phone number over the weekend but we gladly gave a small discount for the inconvenience.

This home was also located in a high water pressure zone along with a failed/defective thermal expansion tank in the potable water supply.

It was worth mentioning to these new customers that we strongly encourage the replacement of their washing machine hoses if they are not willing to deal with the high pressure issue at this time.
