Repeat customer contacted us in regards to a delta shower faucet that was leaking. The one who called us actually was the one who attempted to work on this faucet for another individual.

In typical and repeating scenario, the bonnet nut would not remove from the valve body of the faucet.

When we arrived, the first visual of the valve indicated the faucet body was turned/bent in a hard direction to the left. We advised the one working on the faucet that the 3 copper tubes were heavily damaged and that there was a strong possibility that the shower faucet might leak in the future, given how hard the valve was turned to release the bonnet nut. Once we made this information public to the individual who called us out to resolve the issue, we then proceeded to carefully remove the bonnet nut, extract the cartridge and install a new pressure-balanced cartridge to stop the leak and get the faucet back in operation.

With no success of removing the bonnet nut, we took our acetylene torch and heated the bonnet nut evenly around and instantly, the nut released from its frozen state.

Once the bonnet nut was removed, the cartridge (even though partially melted) was taken out of the valve body.

Plumber's silicone grease was used both on the threads of the valve body, the bonnet nut and the sides of the cartridge. The faucet was then completely assembled back together and surprisingly there was no leaks in the back of the faucet.

We warned the occupants of the home that one accidental hit or bump into that shower valve could cause it to leak instantly back behind the wall, and that the faucet as a whole would have to be replaced to resolve the issue.

The repeat customer that contacted us was very pleased in our ability to resolve the issue and keep the already bad situation from turning into a complete shower faucet replacement in an emergency type scenario.

There is no doubt that the 3 copper tubes leading to this monitor series faucet are completely kinked, and it will be a matter of time before the valve will most likely be replaced as a result of the initial damage.

We wasn't able to take pictures as the rush was on to get the matter resolved, which occurred late at night. Once again, it was a great experience for our returning customer as we minimized the amount of cost and setting up options in the future so they can make a more planned decision before taking action to resolve their plumbing related issues.
