Service call was "Floor drain backs up when washing machine dumps into laundry tub."

We've done numerous jobs at this residence, and drain issues have been a few of them. But this time it involved a bigger situation. We accessed the main line and attempted to clear this line, expecting a soap clog at the entrance of the septic tank.

3 separate passes out to the septic tank yielded no results. The system actually accepted water into the drains, just not full flow. Cable came back clean with no indication of cutting through soap scum or buildup at the end of the drain piping.

We explained to the customer of the situation, asked about the history of the septic tank. What is lacking is a proper cleanout out at the tank. Costs are higher to clean this septic tank as the dirt will have to be removed once again to get to the openings to pump the effluent out of the 3 compartments of the tank.

A cleanout right before entering the septic tank is ideal. This will allow not only the property owner but the drain cleaner/plumber instant access to identify where exactly in the system the problem exists.
