Customer contacted us regarding the replacement of a gas water heater that was reaching 15 years in age and a high water pressure issue was evident through numerous plumbing repairs regarding leaks. The water heater shown below actually was not leaking and still providing hot water when we replaced the unit with a new Sears Kenmore Water Heater.






Looking at the water heater there is an obvious code violation which is a 3/8" soft copper tube that is being used as a makeshift gas line to this water heater.

Here are some pictures of what we found in the chimney leading out of the room into the chimney. We removed all the loose debri and sediment from the opening as well as checking for proper draft before installation.

Here is the finished work after we installed the new 50 gallon gas water heater from Sears Kenmore (A.O. Smith)





In the process of replacing this water heater, Dunbar Plumbing installed a Thermal Expansion Tank, a new black iron gas line to replace the existing soft copper gas line.

An increase in the flue size from 3" to 4" was also done for the reason of efficiency.
