Customer contacted us this past week in regards to numerous plumbing repairs.

We diagnosed high water pressure in the home with the absence of a thermal expansion tank on the potable water supply.

The reason why we checked the water pressure was for the reason why the the toilet was filling so fast on the 2nd floor, as well as the tub/shower faucet putting off a high pitched noise when turn on. 

We took the notion to check the water pressure at one of the two outside hose faucets, water pressure was showing 90+ pounds of pressure at 5:00pm in the evening. This time is significant as as so many residents are home at this time and they are using their plumbing, therefore reducing the static water pressure.

We explained to the customer that at night time when the majority of residents are not using their water pressure, the static line pressure will rise, causing a higher pressure to exist inside the home.

The pressure reducing valve on the main line was defective. We replaced the defective pressure reducing valve and also removed the gate valve. Installed a new 1/4 turn ball valve so the longevity of the valve stands up to time, unlike the gate valve that has a tendency to fail when needed the most.

Once the pressure reducing valve and main shutoff was replaced, we installed a new thermal expansion tank at the water heater.

Water pressure tested at 60 pounds of pressure.
