Here's a short video of a tool that Dunbar Plumbing has just started using to make removing a toilet from the closet flange a lot easier.

This tool prevents the closet bolt from spinning while trying to remove the nut. This is accomplished by this tool locking onto the bolt and

bracing off the edge of the toilet, causing the stud to lock into position and create the ability to now remove the nut from the bolt.
